Veteran pop promotion man Skip Bishop has been named VP of national promotion at Arista Nashville.
Bishop recently moved to Tennessee and started a new job in mid-August as VP of mainstream promotion and marketing at Christian music company Provident Label Group, a sister company to Arista Nashville parent RCA Label Group.
Prior to joining Provident, Bishop was CEO of the independent radio promotion firm Bishop Bait & Tackle Promotion and Marketing, which he founded in 1997. Before that, Bishop worked as senior VP of promotion at MCA Records in Los Angeles and spent 10 years with RCA Records in New York, rising through the ranks from regional to VP to interim senior VP. His career also included a stint in radio.
He succeeds Bobby Kraig, who resigned from the job last month for health reasons after an extended medical leave. Kraig had been with Arista Nashville for 12 years. Under his watch, Arista Nashville was named Billboard Radio Monitor’s country label of the year for the past four years.
