The Light Is Coming…nah, the light is already here.
As promised, Ariana Grande has released her Nicki Minaj-assisted track, “The Light Is Coming.” What Arianators weren’t expecting, however, was an update on her forthcoming album Sweetener. But they got it, with Grande announcing her latest full-length set will drop on Aug. 17 via Republic Records.
The new track hit audio streaming services at the stroke of midnight, though fans will have to wait a little longer for its official music video. Award-winning director Dave Meyers (Missy Elliot, Kendrick Lamar, Katy Perry) shot the clip, which is slated to stream exclusively on Reebok.com from 12pm ET.
“Ah, gonna break that shit down/You don’t wait until they wait another round/ Ah, guess you’re way above it now/And that’s your way to love it now,” she sings.
“Light” and previous single “No Tears Left to Cry” are offered as instant-grat downloads for fans who preorder Sweetener, Grande’s fourth studio album, from today. Also, pre-orders for the LP placed through shop.arianagrande.com will receive pre-sale ticket access to a future headline tour, according to a statement. To get the party rolling, Grande’s website has restocked its digital shelves with a range of new Sweetener merch and tie-ins.
