Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Usher and More Join Global Citizen to Support WHO Coronavirus Campaign

Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Becky G, Usher and Rita Ora are using their voices for good by advocating for Global Citizen’s latest urgency campaign to support World Health Organization’s (WHO) Solidarity Response Fund regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

After WHO estimated the global agency needs $675 million to fund coronavirus preparedness and response efforts until April, the international advocacy movement Global Citizen launched a Stand Together to Beat Coronavirus campaign for people around the world to call on their leaders to support WHO’s mission.

That’s where Grande, Lovato and other entertainment power players came in to call on their fans to join the urgent fundraising efforts, which Global Citizen noted has already received over 12,000 actions.

The artists shared three crucial steps on their Instagram stories: “1. Call on G20 leaders to urgently fund the WHO’s COVID-19 response. 2. Ask corporations + individuals to donate to the WHO Solidarity Fund. 3. Wash your Hands + practice social distancing.”

In last Friday’s newsletter, Global Citizen co-founder Hugh Evans ignited readers with this statement: “With coronavirus cases now present in more than 100 countries and the spread declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), it’s never been clearer: we are all Global Citizens, and must fight for a world with good health for all.”

WHO, in conjunction with the United Nations (UN) Foundation and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation, created the first-of-its-kind Solidarity Response Fund to finance health workers’ protective equipment, diagnostic laboratories, vaccine research and development, and more necessities to actively respond to the global crisis.
