Argentine artist Catnapp — real name Amparo Battaglia — has delivered a new EP called Back — four tunes that go from sub-bass to rap, stepping through breakbeat.
“Sometimes I forget where I am, but I realize later it is the place where many things are born and created,” she muses on Berlin, where she is now living to devote herself to music.
Even though the German capital was her greatest source of inspiration, ideas turned into songs once she participated at the Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp in Santiago de Chile: “I came back from doing something I enjoyed and I met AAAA and he invited me to collaborate on a track,” she explains.
That encounter with the Mexican producer bore “Come,” the song that awakened her desire to make a new album.
“I had to make 70 horrible songs. I cried; I didn’t sleep; I didn’t think about music for a long while in order to realize what I wanted to do,” she shares.
The set also includes a collaboration with Argentine DJ Young Solo for “Time to Get Through It,” the song that closes the EP.
Earlier in September, she debuted the video for “Back,” which she starred in and directed with Luciana Damiao.
“I love directing my videos, but I’d also love to have another pair of eyes to see it behind the camera. I find it difficult to delegate tasks, I want to have control because I have a vision in my head which I need to realize,” Catnapp said.
