Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin canceled two of her Florida shows on Monday (March 14) “due to lack of band personnel,” according to a statement from the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota, Florida, and confirmed by Franklin’s rep.
So far, Franklin has canceled her performances in Sarasota and in St. Augustine, but will still be performing at the Jazz in the Gardens Music Festival in Miami Gardens, a rep for Franklin has now confirmed. The singer will also be performing in North Carolina and Ohio through July.
Back in October, Franklin also canceled shows in Oklahoma. In October, she said about the cancellations: “After such a long, 4,200-mile drive to the West Coast in July, I’m not prepared to drive as far west so soon again. I am so sorry to have to disappoint my fans there, but I will reschedule.”
When reached for comment, Franklin’s rep had no further information on why she canceled her Florida dates.
According to the concert venues, ticket-holders will be issued refunds at the point of purchase.
