Alex Turner’s hometown of Sheffield, England is definitely a tad bitter over the Arctic Monkeys front man’s new life in the United States, and a recent graffiti note is poking fun at the town’s superstar.
In the Hunter’s Bar suburb of the South Yorkshire borough, “Hey Alex…How’s California?” is written on a fence alongside a coffin with the letters “RIP.” The message seems to be referencing lyrics from “Fake Tales of San Francisco,” off the band’s 2005 debut EP Five Minutes with Arctic Monkeys. “He talks of San Francisco, he’s from Hunter’s Bar/I don’t quite know the distance, but I’m sure that’s far,” Turner croons in the bridge.

Turner has been living in Los Angeles for a couple of years, and the band’s recently released album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, was primarily written and recorded in LA.
