Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons and PJ Harvey are booked to play the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival (Apr. 15-17) in Indio, Calif., sources confirm to Billboard.com.
The Canadian band, English folk act and U.K. singer/songwriter are the first big-name acts attached to the fest. Also looking all but confirmed are Crystal Castles, which had the date listed on its MySpace page as of 1:00pm Tuesday (Jan. 18), and Cut Copy, whose recent list of tour dates says “take a wild guess” alongside the Apr. 15, 2011 date.
Other acts whose videos have appeared on the official Coachella website in the past week and are assumed to be playing the festival are Trentemoller, Lightning Bolt, Phantogram, Fanfarlo and Monarchy.
The Strokes, Duran Duran Rumored for Coachella Fest
Rumors surrounding the Coachella 2011 lineup are in full swing, with everyone from the Strokes to Daft Punk being named as acts on the bill. According to a source, Daft Punk were offered one of the headlining slots but declined because the group was simply not ready from a production standpoint to return to live performance. Along with the Strokes, Duran Duran is among the acts strongly believed to be playing the festival.
One band definitely not performing this year is the Rolling Stones, who were at one point said to be in discussions to appear. But sources say talks never got serious and no formal offer was ever presented.
