Kendall and Kylie Jenner were immediately called out when they dropped their controversial vintage T-shirt collection online last month, which included their images and K + K logos layered over the images of legendary late rappers Tupac and Biggie, along with classic rock bands Metallica, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and The Doors. Even Biggie’s mom, Voletta Wallace, spoke out as soon as she saw the designs and, despite booming sales, the brand pulled the entire collection from their site, issuing an apology to Billboard after the backlash.
Now, Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire is firing back. The group started selling their own version of the K + K T-shirts at the merch booth for their London show earlier this week. They placed the cover art for their upcoming new album Everything Now — which is scheduled to drop July 28 — on top of a stencil of Kendall’s face, the same one used for the Jenner siblings’ tees. Proceeds from the shirts’ sales will go to the nonprofit organization Partners in Health, whose mission is to provide health care options for the less fortunate around the world.
Arcade Fire is set to perform at this year’s Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago, and we’ll be on the lookout for whatever merch they decide to sell then.
