A feature-length documentary of the “LOVE” stage production by Apple Corps and Cirque du Soleil is to get a global DVD release on June 23.
“All Together Now” will be marketed and distributed worldwide by EMI Music.
The two-hour documentary profiles the partnership between the Beatles and Cirque du Soleil that resulted in the stage production — which is still playing at The Mirage in Las Vegas — and the double Grammy-winning album “LOVE”.
The film is dedicated to Neil Aspinall, the late head of Apple Corps and executive producer of the DVD.
“All Together Now” details the origins of the show, which developed from a personal friendship between George Harrison and Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte.
The director, Adrian Wills, also discusses early meetings between the creative teams, alongside contributions from Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison. Apple Corps and Cirque du Soleil say there has been no attempt to disguise various disagreements about how some of the songs would be portrayed in the show.
The work of Sir George Martin and his son Giles Martin on the “LOVE” soundtrack, created from the Beatles’ multi-track recordings at Abbey Road Studios, is also profiled, and the DVD features the early rehearsals at the Mirage.
