U.K.-based compilation CD specialist Apace Music has forged a deal for the United Kingdom that will allow it access to Sony BMG’s catalog.
The agreement includes works by Andy Williams, the Jacksons, Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Bolton and Bill Withers.
In a statement, London-based Apace Music managing director Tim Millington described the tie-up as “a very special deal.” He explains that it “enables us to build on our early success and push the business forward through single artist albums as well as compilation releases that will compete in the mid-price market but with track-listings normally associated with full-price product.”
Apace Music has already lined-up a host of triple CD releases based on the Sony BMG repertoire, including “Best of Soul,” “Best of Country,” “Best of Jazz,” “Best of 80’s,” “Best of 90’s” and “Best of Swing” projects. An Andy Williams double Christmas CD is due later this year.
London-based Apace specialises in mid-priced compilation music CD’s sold largely through the leading British retail chains. The company boasts more than 500,000 total album sales in 2005 from its 80 releases.
