It’s not often in July that you see trees lit up with Christmas lights, but this tree is an exception, with an emotional underlying meaning.
Andy Spade, wife of late fashion designer Kate Spade, has been quiet on his social media since the star’s death June 5. On Tuesday morning (July 31), he broke his social media silence by posting a photo of a lit-up Christmas tree with the caption: “She was born Christmas Eve, 1962. She loved the Midwest, the desert, and the city. I was lucky enough to have dear friends let my daughter and I stay at their home through a difficult time.”
The caption continued under the picture of the tree, saying, “this tree was standing alone beside the house so we ordered those multicolored, old fashioned lights from Amazon or Target and another dear personal friend gave me a really Iong extension cord and Bea and I cut a star out of the cardboard box the lights came in and wrapped it in Reynolds wrap like we do every Christmas.”
Fans and supporters paid tribute in the comments section, sharing their favorite memories of Kate and wishing Andy the best as he begins this new chapter of his life.
