Following word yesterday that A24 will release the Amy Winehouse documentary Amy, now a first look at the film has been released.
The minute and a half teaser shows an interview with a young Winehouse talking about her relationship music, intercut with shots of her later on in her career
“I’m not a girl, trying to be a star or trying to be anything other than a musician,” she says.”
And when asked how big she thinks she will become, the future Grammy winner and platinum-selling artist responds, “I don’t. I don’t think I’m gonna be at all famous. I don’t think I could handle it. I would probably go mad.”
Since we all know how this Winehouse’s story ends, this bit hits a dramatic and melancholy note to setup the anticipated film.
The documentary is directed by Asif Kapadia (Senna) and is already set for release in the U.K. on July 3, less than a month shy of the fourth anniversary of the singer’s death.
