American Idol Season 15 winner Trent Harmon premiered the new music video for his single, “There’s a Girl,” this morning (July 11) with a live question and answer session on the Rolling Stone Country Facebook page.
Directed by Roman White, the video chronicles Harmon as he embarks on a quest to find his elusive girl. In the clip, the charming 25-year old singer faces many obstacles as he tries to get to his lady love. He rides a tractor, travels in a vintage red automobile (that sadly overheats), borrows a bicycle from an adorable girl selling lemonade, thumbs a ride from some sweet grandmothers, and rides a motorcycle in his journey.
The song — co-written with Laura Veltz (Eli Young Band, Maren Morris) and Jimmy Robbins (Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton) — is based on on a true story, he said.
“‘I came in with this almost sad story about how I actually drove hundreds of miles only to find out I’d lost my chance with her,” he said. “We crafted a positive outcome because it’s truly crazy what a man will do when he’s in love.” While his real story doesn’t end in victory, the video has a happier ending.
Harmon is currently on a radio tour showcasing his work for his upcoming Big Machine Records full length debut. Watch the video below here.
