Cook — who is currently on tour with the group alongside Idols Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams, (Blake Lewis will perform in December) — has unleashed her inner Amy Winehouse with a ’60s-flavored cover of the Destiny’s Child hit, “Say My Name.” Cook especially has a nice moment riffing off background singers Maiya Sykes and Kenton Chen.
Cook is a perfect fit for the group, having praised the band during her run on American Idol. The 24-year old Virginia native has already recorded two quirky and fun renditions of songs including a swinging big band version of Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar, We’re Going Down” (complete with ukulele) and a “1918 World Fair style” of Plain White T‘s “Hey There, Delilah,” accompanied by a banjo and a stand up bass, with Cook doing a badass solo on her accordion.
Owen’s contribution is still a mystery, although the singer just shared a picture teasing his collaboration on Twitter. In the meantime, the fourth place alum will participate in a World Aids Day concert in Detroit on Dec. 1. The show — a benefit concert at The Garden Theater in Detroit — features other Idols, including Season 8 winner Kris Allen, season 12 alum Devin Velez, season 13 alum Malaya Watson and season 6 alum Melinda Doolittle.
