American Idol season 4 alum Constantine Maroulis is back with a new single, “All About You,” a song set in New England that showcases the two-time Tony nominee’s emotive vocals.
“This is a song that everyone can relate to, a song about not being able to move on,” said the Rock of Ages star. “It’s the feeling of knowing someone is gone and you know they’re not coming back, but you just can’t accept it.”
Written with Sam Hollander, who scored a hit with Fitz & the Tantrum’s “Handclap” in 2016 and also worked with Daughtry and Weezer, the song features a layered instrumentation set against an acoustic guitar. Although Maroulis grew up in New Jersey, New England has a place in his heart.
“Sam and I share a deep love for New England,” he said. “It’s a favorite place of ours, despite being New Yorkers at heart.”
Maroulis is so taken with the area, he is spending his spring in New Haven, Connecticut and will be performing at the Longwharf Theatre in the upcoming show, The Most Beautiful Room in New York, set to run through May. He will then be reviving his role as Judas in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar at The Muny in St. Louis in June.
“I’ve spent the last two years overcoming a lot of personal obstacles, working on myself and striving to do good, and these shows are an example of the work I continued to put in behind the scenes,” he said.
