Boy George will mentor finalists on American Idol this week. The theme: ’80s night, ‘natch.
The Culture Club singer joins judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr on the Fox show this Wednesday (March 25), splitting duties with Big Machine Records founder Scott Borchetta, season 14’s in-house mentor.
“I’ve had a heart warming time working with the kids from Idol,” Boy George tells Billboard. “It’s always great to be able to share you’re experiences with such talented artists starting out on their journey. There’s nothing more gratifying for me than to be able to help, advise and share, and this fantastic show allows that to happen.”
Eleven contestants remain in the competition. The prize: a recording contract from Big Machine/Universal Music.
Elsewhere in the Boy George universe, Culture Club will head out on a North American tour this summer. Kicking off July 20 in Denver, Colo., the trek will hit 12 states (see dates below).
