If our last Billboard poll is any indication, half of you don’t even bother watching “American Idol.”
Of 10,411 votes, 51% of voters said they never ever tune into the show, which finished its sixth season at the end of May.
Twenty-eight percent of you, however, were keen on watching “this sucker from start to finish.” Maybe some serious Jordin fans?
People who watch only the first half of the season (to make fun of the auditions) and those who watch only the latter half (so you can vote in who wins) shared the same number: 3%. Seven percent said they used to watch but not anymore and the same percent said they watch it when they catch — maybe we should’ve included a “YouTube” option?
“I love the auditions where everyone and their momma comes on the show,” wrote SS.J.L. to Billboard.com.
“No, I do not watch American Idol this year, and will most likely never watch it again,” scribed one blond Soul Patroller, who felt silver-haired Taylor Hicks got “dissed” by the judges and audiences.
We (heart) Jim L.’s thoughts: “You left out one of the possible answers… I DVR the show and only watch the good parts, which amount to less than 10 minutes of each episode.”
“I was going to watch the Top Ten part of American Idol but I got so busy with my personal life. Then I started hearing jokes and saw the skit from SNL about some guy name Sanjay [sic] and how he is still on…” wrote a busy R. Lee.
And wouldn’t you know it? No fewer than 40 people wrote in about how angry they were that the scary-haired youngster survived so long on the show…
