The National Assn. of Recording Merchandisers has named to new directors to its board, Pete Baltaxe from Amazon and Ed Hogan from Best Buy.
Baltaxe, Amazon’s director of worldwide digital music, replaces Amazon’s Peter Faricy who last fall assumed non-music related duties at the Seattle-based company.
Prior to joining Amazon, Baltaxe’s career included stops at the Boston Consulting Group and two years, 1995-1997, with AOL as the director of
e-commerce initiatives. Baltaxe also co-founded a number of e-commerce companies, including Red Envelope.
Hogan, Best Buy’s director of music, fills the seat vacated when Tami Kosikowski left Best Buy earlier this year. Hogan, who is also a key leader within the Best Buy digital strategy team in collaboration with Napster, previously was senior merchant in music at the consumer electronics chain.
Prior to spending two years as a music category manager at bestbuy.com, Hogan spent six years as national buyer for Musicland and three years at EMI Music Marketing in sales.
