The track got its global release on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show ahead of its release proper on Friday (April 15) via Interscope. It’s a song about bumping into an ex, and feeling a lingering emotion that wasn’t expected, Francis explained to the show’s host.
The collab between herself, her producer-bandmate George Reid and Flume (real name Harley Streten) came about after they all had various random collisions at festivals they were booked to play. “Backstage we got chatting about what could do together in the studio,” recalls Francis. “As musicians we can’t resist having a collab.”
It’s the second song lifted from I Remember, the followup to 2013’s Body Music. The first track from it, “I’m In Control,” dropped earlier in the year and its official video arrived just this week.
The new album is “in the works,” insists Francis. “We’ve just finished a couple of songs off it. We’ve hit our deadlines.” Though there’s not timeframe for its release, she hinted it will arrive when “it’s still warm, I believe.”
Flume’s own second artist album Skin is due out May 27. Listen to “I Remember” below.
