In the 1970s, Casablanca Records shook the world with its disco records straight from the minds of the best in the business. If it played at Studio 54, it was probably one of theirs. Donna Summers, Lipps Inc., Parliament — you name it.
In 2015, ALT:Vision disrupted the modern music industry with its forward-thinking attack to music distribution. You’ve heard of Run the Trap and Too Future, the online platforms that share tracks, remixes and mixes from some of your favorite url producers? ALT:Vision is the brand behind those digital properties, and co-founders Adam Hirsch and Benito Lugo have earned quite the reputation as industry tastemakers.
In 2018, the fresh minds of ALT:Vision and the institutional genius of Casablanca come together to further push the boundaries of dance music in a new partnership that’s got all parties more than jazzed.
“We have a very hands-on approach across record development, PR, branding and social that we apply to our artists to build highly engaged organic fanbases from the ground up,” Hirsch is quoted in a press release. “Now, we have the ability to utilize those strategies on the label side with an amazing partner like Republic/Casablanca to add fuel to the fire, all while keeping the artists’ long-term growth as the top priority.
“This also gives us the opportunity to plug in with great artists and teams outside of our roster and build together,” Lugo continues. “We have a family-oriented approach with everything we do, and now we can bring other like-minded people in to that.”
The first joint releases are scheduled for this month, starting with Justice Skolnik “Cameras” ft. Jeremy Zucker, Friday, March 9. More tunes will follow from ALT:Vision favorites Medasin, Autograf, Wolfgang Gartner, Ramzoid and BLU J.
“We are so excited to finally announce our partnership with the team at ALT:VISION Records and their insanely talented roster of artists,” says Kristina Grossmann, senior director of A&R at Republic and Casablanca Records. “Adam and Benito are two of the best in the business right now at identifying and cultivating new talent. In talking with them about their goals and how they align with Casablanca’s — to continue building on electronic music and culture, delivering the best music that we possibly can — we look forward to doing just that together.”
