An interview between Aloe Blacc and Bill Withers is the top ticket item at this year’s ASCAP “I Create Music” EXPO, as well as panel discussions featuring Toby Gad, No I.D., Santigold, Sum 41‘s Deryck Whibley and others.
The three day conference runs April 30 through May 2 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles and will include nearly 200 participating panelists and performers. The annual event’s focus is on the craft and business of songwriting, composing and producing.
Blacc’s interview with Withers — the man behind beloved hits including like “Ain’t No Sunshine,” “Lean on Me” and “Lovely Day — will come two weeks after his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their conversation is supposed to focus on the importance of staying authentic to oneself, artistically and personally. It is also said to mark a full-circle moment for Blacc who attended EXPO in 2010 specifically to hear Withers speak.
A summary of EXPO programming is below. See the complete “I Create Music” EXPO schedule here.
