Alison Wonderland‘s major-stage set during weekend two of Coachella arrived on the heels of some heartbreaking news. The Australian DJ performed Friday (Apr. 20), just hours after news broke that Avicii had died suddenly at 28. Wonderland couldn’t complete her performance without a stunning tribute to her predecessor, who has publicly been mourned by fellow EDM stars including Calvin Harris, deadmau5, Skrillex and Diplo.
Videos were tweeted of the petite producer standing on top of her table in front of a packed festival crowd, as the euphoric synths of Avicii’s breakthrough single “Levels” kicked in over her speakers. “Rest in peace, Avicii,” Wonderland yelled, choked up and possibly wiping away tears as she fist-pumped along. “Today, we lost someone very important in our community.”
The “Church” artist then invited the crowd to hold up their cell phone flashlights, illuminating the night sky in honor of the house music trailblazer. Wonderland tweeted a short clip of the chill-inducing moment, captioned in part “I hope everyone is doing ok.”

Wonderland wasn’t the only artist remembering Avicii with performances last weekend. On the same night, Kygo closed his Coachella set with an in-memoriam style performance of Avicii’s “Without You” featuring Sandro Cavazza, and Nick Jonas took his spin on the late DJ’s Top 10 hit “Wake Me Up!” during an Ohio stop on his spring tour.
