Alicia Keys is ready to turn up the heat on her new album.
In a post on her official website on Tuesday, the musician announced her in-progress next album will be titled “Girl on Fire.”
“And that’s exactly how I feel!!! You’ll be learning more about it soon… but let me just say before making this record, in some ways I felt like a lion locked in a cage…I felt like a girl misunderstood that no one really knew, I felt like it was time to stop making excuses for any part of my life that I wanted to change,” Keys wrote. “Once I made that choice I became a Girl on Fire, the lion broke free!!”
Keys says she “mostly stayed in NY” to record the new set, which will focus on “finding yourself and your own inner strength.”
The phrase “girl on fire” is familiar to fans of the “Hunger Games” novels and film as a description of heroine Katniss Everdeen, though the popular series went unmentioned in Keys’ post.
“Girl on Fire” will be Keys’ fifth studio album and first since 2009’s “The Element of Freedom.”
