The music video for “Coals” — the first song from Alice and the Glass Lake’s posthumous album Chimaera, due Nov. 18 — is premiering exclusively on Billboard.
Alice and the Glass Lake was the project of late singer/songwriter Alicia Lemke, whose music aimed to express escapism through ambient sounds and honest lyrics. The video for “Coals” is a final gift to her fans after the Wisconsin native’s death at age 28 from leukemia in August 2015.

“She did not let [her disease] define her; she remained larger than it,” Lemke’s parents wrote on Facebook following her death. “In fact, she remained larger than life.”
The video — which features a woman dancing on a beach as Lemke sings in the background — was shot on the beaches of Southern California a few months before Lemke died.
“She lived fully in the moment, having devoted friends visiting constantly, traveling when able, making music throughout, and even a music video three months before passing,” her parents’ Facebook message continued. “Watching the way she lived was powerful.”
Prior to her death, Alice and the Glass Lake’s star was on the raise after being picked as an “artist to watch” by Pigeons & Planes, Free People, Live Fast magazine, Indie Discovery and Stereotude.
