Warner Music Group today named Alfonso Perez-Soto its new senior vice president, business development for Latin America, Spain and emerging markets. Perez-Soto previous had worked as vice president of the content corporate unit at Telefonica.
In his new position, Perez-Soto will be tasked with identifying and developing growth oportunities and digital expansion in his assigned regions. He will report to president of Warner Music Latin America Inigo Zabala for all Latin America and Spain-related duties, and to EVP of digital strategy and business development Stephen Bryan for his emerging markets duties.
“I am very pleased to welcome Alfonso back to the team. He brings extensive knowledge and invaluable experience in the music and technology industries,” said Zabala in a statement. “I am confident his entrepreneurial flair and strategic insight will help to ensure we are maximizing the potential for our exciting content across all channels, and that we continue to provide our world-class artists with cutting edge digital opportunities.”
Perez-Soto had previously worked at WMG for six years, having most recently served as VP of business development for Latin America until March 2011, when he left for Telefonica.
“I am thrilled to be re-joining Warner Music Group and to be working with Inigo and Stephen,” Perez-Soto said in his statement. “I know from experience that Warner is a company with a real commitment to digital innovation and I look forward to reconnecting with the music, artists and partners.”
Perez-Soto’s extensive experience in the music industry goes back even further than his Warner days, having spent seven years as a senior business developer for Universal Music Group in Latin America, as well as holding senior positions at Nokia.
