Singer Alexa Ray Joel will show off her New York pride on Friday (Oct. 9) when she sings the National Anthem before the New York Islanders’ inaugural game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, their new home.
“I’m so happy and honored to be singing the national anthem to kick off the hockey season!” Joel said in a press release. “It’s all about representing the home-team and, of course, New York pride.”
In addition to singing the National Anthem, Joel will become the first artist to play at the venue’s new Billboard Lounge amplified by Lightpath, where she will give a special performance on the Master & Dynamic stage. Joel is kicking off the Billboard Debut in Brooklyn series at the venue, which will include more artists in the future.
The Billboard Lounge officially launched on Sept. 27 before the second show of Ariana Grande’s two-night run at the venue for The Honeymoon Tour.
