The metal act and AleXa performed together in the music video for the song, where the Oklahoma-native soloist got a rocker makeover, fronting the band as she headbangs and revels in the overall dynamic nature of the bolster of the new version of “Bomb” alongside DIABLO’s Jang Hak.
Though the video primarily focuses on AleXa and DIABLO’s performance, it ends with sci-fi elements originally featured in her first music video, connecting the pair, and proving that DIABLO may or may not just be a holographic figment of AleXa’s nature.
“Having done this collab with such an amazing and cool band as DIABLO, I’m honored,” AleXa tells Billboard. “I’m so happy with the collaboration, and I hope that I can work with them again in the future. Having loved rock for so long, I could not be any more ecstatic to be releasing my debut song in this new style!”
“The song was great and we were really impressed by AleXa’s energy,” says DIABLO about hearing “Bomb” for the first time. “Though we were worried at first at how to best express the rock genre through a new version of ‘Bomb,’ we were pleasantly surprised by how AleXa made the rock rendition her own. We think that the music video perfectly captures the special feeling of rock, and that fans enjoy it as much as we did filming it.”
“I love the idea of showcasing AleXa in a non-traditional way. We were thinking that we need to apply our ‘multiverse’ mindset to song-writing, and that’s when we realized that we can experiment with other genres using ‘Bomb,’” says Angelina Foss, head of ZB Label, which AleXa is signed under. “We wanted to go back to the roots of both Zanybros and AleXa, who both pursued music because of a love of the rock genre. Our first immediate thought was to collaborate with DIABLO because they’re such legends in the Korean metal scene.”
