Get ready for some fresh Alesso. On Friday (March 8), the Swedish producer released Progresso Volume 1, the first in a new series of mixtapes, which features “Time,” “Progresso” and “Confession.”
This mixtape follows Alesso’s 2018 hit single “Remedy,” which spent 20 weeks on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, peaking at No. 17, and his more recently released (and Fortnite-inspired) song “Tilted Towers.” The mixtape series is allowing the superstar producer to drop new music between such major single and album releases.
“This project, for me, is about going back to my roots and making house records,” Alesso says of the series in a press release. “I wanted to represent the culture of dance music through this mixtape. Each song is powerful and unique. It’s about telling a story of the past and the future of the genre through the music.”
Meanwhile, Alesso has been on a tear in South and Central America. On Feb. 22, he performed as part of the humanitarian aid event Venezuala Aid Live, before traveling north to play for roughly 100,000 fans at EDC Mexico and then hitting LA Solar Festival in Cartagena, Colombia. On March 9, he plays with Brazilian pop singer Anitta at Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
