UK producer Alan Fitzpatrick may have built his name on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode imprint, but in the years since his 2010 debut, Shadows in the Dark, Fitzpatrick has become a veritable techno titan in his own right.
With a consistent run of chart-topping techno tracks, Fitzpatrick has proven himself one of the more capable producers when it comes to constructing peak-time dancefloor concoctions. While his work often blurs the lines of industrial, minimal and melodic techno, if there’s one consistent theme, it’s an enduring nod to rave heyday and ’90s underground culture.
Neatly embodying this skill is Fitzpatrick’s latest EP, The Colours of a Dream — the final track of which Billboard Dance is exclusively premiering. Titled “Together Until the End,” the EP’s dreamy closer is built around a stuttering kick-drum pattern that betrays techno’s typical four-to-the-floor foundation. The result is a lush, late-night curveball from Fitzpatrick — the kind of hazy, nostalgic concoction built to serenade an after-hours crowd.
Alan Fitzpatrick’s new EP, The Colours of a Dream, is due out on his own imprint, We Are the Brave, on March 23.
