The Alabama Shakes, who were named one of Billboard’s Best Bets for 2012 last week, have released the details of their forthcoming debut full-length, titled “Boys & Girls.” The record will drop April 10 via ATO stateside and Rough Trade in the UK.
The Athens, AL, natives made waves toward the end of last year, when they released their self-titled EP via Bandcamp and played multiple eastern U.S. dates. As reported previously, publicity firms and producers had a field day, sources say, competing to sign on with the until-recently-unsigned act. (They are currently represented by Red Light Management.) At the end of 2011, Paste magazine named the Shakes the Best New Artist of the year.
The new record includes all four songs from the EP, including the full-length’s lead single, “Hold On,” and was produced by the band. Jack White’s Third Man Records is also slated to release an Alabama Shakes 7″ by the end of the month.
The band is currently touring the southern and western U.S.; they’ll return home to Alabama at the end of March.
