AKB48 has scored another million-selling single with “NO WAY MAN,” which tops this week’s Billboard Japan Hot 100 dated Nov. 16 to Dec. 2. The J-pop girl group’s 54th single sold 1,350,736 copies in its first week, coming in at No. 1 for physical sales, No. 2 for look-ups, and No. 3 for Twitter mentions.
Kenshi Yonezu‘s “Lemon” returns to No. 2 on the latest chart, reflecting the addition of the karaoke metric in the Japan Hot 100 chart methodology starting this week. The track came in at No. 1 on this new metric, which tallies the number of times a song was sung on Daiichikosho and XING karaoke machines.
The long-running hit by the Japanese artist also came in at No. 2 for downloads and video views. The numbers for both have increased from the previous week, so the song will most likely remain in the upper ranks of the tally throughout 2018.
Focusing on just the karaoke data for this week, Yonezu has five songs in the top 100, including “LOSER” at No. 12 and “Eine Kleine” at No. 13, demonstrating the widespread familiarity of his compositions.
Other chart moves this week include Soraru‘s Gin No Kisei,” the ending theme of the animated series Goblin Slayer, rocketing to No. 4 with 59,964 copies sold, coming in at No. 2 for physical sales, No. 10 for look-ups, and No. 14 for Twitter.
Last week’s No. 1 song, back number‘s “Old Fashion,” drops to No. 10 but is still performing well both in the digital and physical metrics, coming in at No. 3 for downloads and No. 4 for look-ups, which counts the number of times a CD is ripped to a computer.
ONE OK ROCK‘s new single “Stand Out Fit In” rises a notch to No. 9, after the music video released Nov. 23 soared 80-9 on the video views metric. The song also comes in at No. 2 for streaming, racking up over 2 million plays during the chart week.
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and audio streams from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOX, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, Recochoku provided by Gfk Japan, streaming counts based on lyrics displayed on PetitLyrics, and karaoke data from Daiichikosho and XING.
