Australian independent music companies’ trade association AIR has relaunched its charts Web site off the back of its new sponsorship arrangement with drinks brand Jagermeister.
The Jagermeister AIR charts Web site at www.aircharts.com.au introduces various new interactive features connecting the local independent artist community and its fans.
The site, which tracks album and single sales of Australian artists released by local indie labels, will devote an area on its homepage to spotlight the “Sonicbids feature artist” and a “Mover Of The Week” will be bestowed to the most impressive charting debut release.
Other new features include the D*Star Radio Charts, which monitors airplay for independent artists.
A new partnership promotion with ISP BigPond will see the Jagermeister AIR Charts distributed weekly as SMS Alerts and fortnightly to BigPond email subscribers. BigPond will soon also launch a dedicated charts page.
The Melbourne-based trade association has also launched “AIR Honour Badges,” a tool that will enable artists to update fans on their chart position through a simple link.
“The new Web site and re-vamped charts provides excellent additional exposure points for the independent sector and will also establish the site as the one stop shop for punters looking to discover new music,” AIR CEO Stu Watters tells Billboard.biz.
Through an arrangement announced last December, Jagermeister will serve as headline sponsor of the AIR Charts until 2010. The Suntory-distributed brand has supported the AIR Awards as headline sponsor for the past two years.
