EMI Music Germany president Birgit Adels is adding duties for the company’s operations in Austria.
In a statement issued today (Oct. 4), EMI said Adels has been appointed president of EMI Music Germany & Austria. She continues to report to EMI Music Continental Europe chairman/CEO Jean-Francois Cecillon.
“I am confident that Birgit’s management style and leadership skills will enable her to progress our business in Austria with similar success,” Cecillon comments in the company statement.
Adels, a former BMG executive, joined EMI from the Prada fashion group in April 2006.
Her new appointment spells an end to Helmut Fest’s 10-month interim chairmanship of the Vienna-based affiliate. Fest originally retired in 1999 as EMI Europe VP/artist acquisition. Prior to that, he served for an eight-year stint as president of EMI Music in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
