Adele‘s new James Bond theme “Skyfall” is currently set to miss out on the U.K. No. 1 position, according to midweek data from the Official Charts Company.
The singer trails the new release by Swedish House Mafia, “Don’t You Worry Child,” featuring John Martin, and unless “Skyfall” can catch and overtake the Scandinavian dance trio by the end of the sales week, at midnight on Saturday, she will continue a surprising chart record of having only one U.K. No. 1 single to her name, with “Someone Like You” in early 2011.

Swedish House Mafia had sold 74,000 to Adele’s 52,000 by midnight last night (Tuesday), with the current No. 1 from Sunday’s official chart, Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” now in third place.
“Skyfall” debuted at No. 4 on the current weekly survey by selling 84,000 sales in just two days since its release at 0:07 am last Friday (Oct. 5). But it appears that the “split” in sales, divided over two chart weeks, may cost Adele the top spot. This would continue another unlikely chart sequence, since no James Bond theme song has ever topped the U.K. sales list. Duran Duran came closest by peaking at No. 2 with “A View To A Kill” in 1985.
Leona Lewis currently stands at No. 5 in the midweek positions with “Trouble,” featuring Childish Gambino. On the album chart, Ellie Goulding is in line for a second No. 1 with “Halcyon,” to follow her 2011 debut “Lights.”
Across the pond, “Skyfall” enters at No. 8 on the Hot 100, marking her first top 10 beginning. The song starts at No. 3 on Digital Songs with 261,000 (after being released to digital retailers Thursday night) and arrives on Radio Songs at No. 49 (26 million in its first five-and-a-half days of availability).
