As spring blossoms, music fills the air and we come to truly appreciate those musicians that hook us with their melodic poetry. ELLE Magazine trumpets this with their annual Women in Music issue.
Adele, Alicia Keys and Rita Ora brought their own signature style to the May cover of ELLE Magazine. Each individually grace the rotating May cover that celebrates the annual Women in Music issue.
For the cover shoot Adele gave some serous pout, sporting her classic bold cat eye and a vintage lace Alberta Ferretti dress at L.A.’s EastWest Studios. It’s a studio made famous by icons like Frank Sinatra.
“The set reflected Adele’s retro crooner style perfectly,” Creative Director Joe Zee explained.
For the Alicia Keys shoot, the singer kept it cool across the street, on the rooftop of Siren Studios as she reportedly sang along to a Grace Jones album. The magazine then flew to London to photograph Rita Ora who was as equally ecstatic about the shoot in Mickey Mouse gear. “Not many people get so excited to have their picture taken in whiskers. Rita definitely has a special aura,” Zee mused.
The music issue includes a tribute to Adele and fellow musician’s thoughts on her meteoric rise to fame such as Katy Perry, Britney Spears, John Mayer and legend Barbra Streisand.
