Universal Music Group Distribution named Adam Zelinka its new senior vice president, marketing and product development, announced UMGD president and CEO Jim Urie.
Zelinka moves to UMGD from his previous role as founder of Fanatical Marketing LLC, a New York-based consulting firm dedicated to helping companies create strategic partnerships, new businesses, and direct-to-consumer strategies. Fanatical had worked closely with Sony Music Entertainment, indie retailer eMusic, ArtistDirect.com, and Dimensional Music Publishing. At UMGD, he will be tasked with leading Universal’s direct-to-consumer marketing, direct marketing, consumer relationship marketing, and product development.
“Adam is an innovator, an entrepreneur and a veteran of marketing in the digital space,” Urie said in a statement. “He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and a proven track record of success that complements our existing strategy and will help keep UMGD’s labels and artists at the forefront of the digital landscape. I’m very pleased to have him joining the UMGD executive team.”
Zelinka had previously been an executive at multiple labels, such as GRP and Zomba/Jive, and worked as vice president of site programming for music content/e-commerce company N2K/Music Boulevard, as well as general manager of music for marketing organization YouthStream Media Networks.
