It was a Friday morning — not Sunday morning — but rain was falling on Hollywood Boulevard, where fans gathered despite the gloominess to support singer-songwriter Adam Levine as he received the 2,601st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Levine is best known as the frontman of Grammy-winning band Maroon 5, which has racked up three No. 1 hits (“Moves Like Jagger,” “One More Night” and “Makes Me Wonder”) on the Billboard Hot 100. Beyond his musical success with his band and as a solo artist, Levine branched into film and television, serving as a judge on NBC’s The Voice and starring in roles on American Horror Story and the 2013 film Begin Again.
Levine’s star ceremony was just as prestigious as his career, with guest speakers Sammy Hagar, formerly of Van Halen, and country superstar Blake Shelton, whose girlfriend and fellow Voice coach Gwen Stefani accompanied him to the event. Levine’s wife, Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo, was also in attendance, glowing in a mid-length black dress and baby-pink cropped fur coat.
An adorable highlight from the event was when Levine and Prinsloo’s daughter Dusty Rose made her first public appearance. The 4-month-old stole the show, as Levine dangled her above his new star and posed for a family photo.
After a few opening words by Leron Gubler, the CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Hagar took the stage to rave about Levine’s musical talent and reflect on their friendship. “He’s one of the most unaffected superstars I’ve ever met,” Hagar said.
Shelton stepped up to the podium next to both tease his bromantic counterpart, but also melt everyone’s heart with warm sentiments about their friendship. “Imagine my disappointment when I found out this isn’t a roast,” he opened.
After a few quips and pokes at Levine’s rugged fashion sense and “scrawny” figure, Shelton received a collective “Aw!” from the crowd stating, “I’ve never had a more honest and loyal friend than Adam Levine. I know getting a star on the Walk of Fame is a big deal, but I’m happy to see him get this because he’s my friend.”
When Levine began to speak over screams from the fans, he had nothing but gratitude for those who made him as successful as he is.
“I am me because of you. I have a daughter, I have the most beautiful wife in the entire world, I’m one of the luckiest people who have ever lived and it has nothing to do with me. It has to do with the people who love me the most. And so I thank all of those people,” he said.
