Last week, Adam begged The Voice viewers to vote for 14-year-old Reagan Strange, who was too sick and unable to sing, even though she was up against another one of his team members, DeAndre Nico.
Nico felt a bit shaded by his coach, 12NewsNow after the show, “We did our job … I just got over laryngitis and when I came back I still sang … I know she’s a little kid but it’s like, man, you could’ve put some words in for me at all. Like, something,” according to Entertainment Tonight.
On Monday night’s episode (Dec. 11), the Maroon 5 frontman addressed the controversy. “It was a strange week, but it’s over now,” he said. “DeAndre’s my boy. I love him. We talked. It’s all good. We’ve got to keep moving forward.”
“This sucks, man. DeAndre, you’re an exquisite singer. I’m a little confused as to why you’re in the bottom. That perplexes me. But I want to say this … There is an unbelievably talented little girl right now who is not able to fight for her position on this show. And you were fortunate enough tonight to be able to sing. And man, you sang like a champ,” Levine said at the time.
