Adam Levine is getting ready to pack his bags for a national tour with Maroon 5 in the new year, and on Friday (Nov. 6), The Voice judge dialed into On Air With Ryan Seacrest to discuss the band’s recent success. (Their super sweet love song “Sugar” recently coated the charts at no. 1 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart.)
Maroon 5 Rides ‘Sugar’ High, Hits No. 1 on Pop Songs
“We find ourselves in this position where we just continue to have this amazing success,” he told Seacrest. “Having our songs on the radio has been the fuel in the tank for the band to perform live. We’ve always considered ourselves to be a live band. I think that’s the cornerstone of who we are.”
Maroon 5’s forthcoming trek aside, Levine was asked about the blossoming romance between his Voice mates, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. He took the neutral approach, skipping his direct feelings on the now-confirmed relationship.
“They’re my friends,” he says. “Gwen and I have really bonded lately. She’s just the coolest, most wonderful person ever and people don’t really realize that they are humans and they have problems just like everybody else. I love my friends and I support my friends through everything. I’ve been actually really enjoying getting to know Gwen better in the past two months.”
