Adam Ant has postponed his Friday night show at New York’s Webster Hall due to a death in his band. Tom Edwards, 41, died Wednesday night from suspected heart failure at Kennedy Hospital in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, the singer shared on his Facebook page.
Edwards, guitarist and music director for the band, was part of the North American Kings of the Wild Frontier tour, which began two nights ago in Washington, D.C. He was rushed to the hospital after he was found unresponsive, and he died in the late afternoon.
“On behalf of Adam and his band, we thank all of you for your best wishes and support during this most difficult time,” the singer shared in a statement. “Tom shared his musical gifts with the world, and his spirit will live on forever.”
In order to pay respects to their honored bandmate, Adam and his band have postponed Thursday night’s show (Jan. 26) at the Keswick Theatre in Philadelphia, as well as the New York show, but will resume touring at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto on Sunday.
Over the course of his career, Edwards toured as a guitarist for Edwyn Collins, Roddy Frame, Rebelles, Andrea Corrs, Arno Castens, Fields of the Nephilim and Spiderbites.
