Warner Music Group’s Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA) has launched in the Nordic region.
The new division of the leading distributor of indie releases will provide digital and physical distribution services to independent music companies in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.
Jesper Thorsson has been appointed as manager, ADA Nordic, effective immediately. He is based in Stockholm and reports to Jonas Siljemark, president of Warner Music Nordic.
Services offered by ADA Nordic will include physical and digital retail sales and marketing, manufacturing, media buying, synchronization and licensing.
“ADA Nordic has been created specifically to offer the best service and support to the region’s diverse, dynamic community of indie labels,” said Thorsson in a statement. “We will provide our partners and their outstanding artists with a host of new opportunities via our powerful distribution footprint, strong sales philosophy and commitment to assist in long-term artist development.”
Thorsson previously worked for indie Bonnier Amigo Music Group, where he was label manager for Roadrunner Records in Scandinavia and Finland. He has also worked as export manager for Music Network where he was also responsible for Rock A&R.
“Jesper is the perfect choice to launch and lead ADA Nordic,” Siljemark said in a statement. “He has been working with indie labels and artists for many years and has a deep understanding of their requirements, as well as how ADA can deliver them maximum value. Under Jesper’s leadership, ADA Nordic will present the region with a new high standard in independent distribution.”
ADA is the No. 1 distributor of independent music releases from labels including Sub Pop and Domino in the U.S., where it launched in 1993. A U.K. division was launched in 2006.
