(The Hollywood Reporter) — Activision and Viacom Consumer Products have settled a lawsuit over the “Star Trek” franchise.
Videogame developer Activision terminated its “Star Trek” licensing agreement with Viacom in July 2003. It filed a lawsuit accusing Viacom of neglecting the franchise to a degree that Activision could no longer develop videogames from it.
In turn, Viacom accused Activision of trying to use the court to renegotiate a deal it made in 1988.
In a statement March 11, the companies said they have settled the legal disputes regarding their licensing agreement for “Star Trek” videogames and, as a result, all lawsuits filed by the parties in the Los Angeles Superior Court have been dismissed. No other terms were disclosed.
