Wednesday night, “American Idol” crowned another winner, but it also produced a newly-engaged couple, as Season 5’s Ace Young proposed onstage to Season 3’s Dianna DeGarmo during the Season 11 finale broadcast.
Ryan Seacrest suspiciously called the first couple of “Idol” up to the stage during the show, and dimmed the lights so that Young could ask an important question. Watch below.
“Diana — we have conquered Broadway together; we have created all your new music together,” Young said to a teary-eyed DeGarmo as his own hands shook. “We have an amazing group of people around us, and, with the help of David Webb Jewelry, I have a way to make this fun last forever.”

“You’re my best friend,” he said as he got down on one knee. “I want to make this last forever, and I will do everything in my power to have the most imaginable amazing life together.”
The pair met briefly during an “Idol” event, but got to know each other as they worked on a performance of “Hair” in New York. Neither won their season on the Fox singing competition — Young finished seventh and Degarmo was the runner-up.
