AC/DC has issued a statement denying that the band is appearing at a Romanian festival in May, as advertised by organizers in Bucharest.
The Anglo-Australian rock act opened the U.K. leg of its “Black Ice” tour last night (April 14) at the O2 arena in London, with a second sold-out date on Thursday (April 16).
“Promoters in Bucharest, Romania have been falsely advertising AC/DC as the headliner for their two-day Bucharest Rock Arena festival, happening on May 30 and 31, 2009,” said a statement on the band’s official Web site. “AC/DC fans are encouraged to visit the band’s official Web site for a list of all sanctioned concerts.”
Tickets for this event have been available online as well as at various retail outlets in Bucharest.
The current U.K. shows are promoted by Live Nation and SJM and will be followed by 25 further British and European dates including open-air concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium (June 26), Dublin Punchestown Racetrack (June 29) and Glasgow Hampden Park (June 30).
