Above & Beyond have made a name for their dance music productions and remix work, but they also like to throw acoustic recordings into the mix. The trio is returning with their second stripped down album Acoustic II on June 3, and now they’ve teamed up with Billboard to premiere a jazz rendition of their 2004 song “No One On Earth.”
Above & Beyond Announces New Acoustic Album and World Tour: Exclusive
Originally an eight-minute trance track, “No One On Earth” now it marks in at half of the time and is reimagined as a slow, soulful song with vocals from Zoë Johnston, also known for her work with duo Faithless. Although Johnston sang on the first version as well, her voice reaches new heights and is complemented with backing harmonies and a wailing, melancholy trumpet solo.
Above & Beyond are currently touring the U.S. with a 15-piece band in support of the album, including a sold-out headlining show at the Hollywood Bowl on May 28, where they will be joined by a full 32-piece orchestra.
