This week has something for everyone. It seems no matter where you flip the channel, you’ll land on an interesting musical diversion.
PBS is the place to be to give a little alt-county fuel to your week with Lucinda Williams and Kasey Chambers Thursday on “Soundstage.” Don’t miss it… Lucinda’s a legend in her own time and Chambers is an up and comer looking to follow in her path.
Is contemporary country more your thing? NASCAR’s Brickyard 400 broadcast Sunday on Fox will feature a performance by Montgomery Gentry. Want a little bluegrass option? Check out Allison Krauss on NBC’s “Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on Friday.
Beatle Sighting! One of just two living members of the Beatles will be on Friday’s “Good Morning America.” The show will feature Ringo Starr & His All Star Band. This time around it features John Waite, Paul Carrack, Colin Hay of Men At Work fame and Sheila E.
Across town on the plaza in New York’s Rockefeller Center, Canadian country queen Shania Twain will the star performing for the fans assembled outside NBC’s “Today” studios.
Couldn’t get enough Jane’s Addiction on the tube last week? Well, don’t fear, because this week of rerun episodes of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” brings a pair that were co-hosted by frontman Perry Farrell. The latter show is that week’s finale, which featured a performance by the band.
Other live music highlights will include Ben Lee Monday night on CBS’ “The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn, Norah Jones Tuesday night with Leno, Sean Paul on MTV’s “Hard Rock Live” on Wednesday and touring mates B.B. King and Jeff Beck with Leno on Thursday.
These last two options won’t see performance, but entertaining appearances nonetheless:
P. Diddy has his hand in so many things, including a desire to buy the New York Knicks. He’s also been an actor, with a lauded role in “Monsters Ball.” He’ll discuss acting with Jon Favreau, Vincent Pastore, Juliette Lewis and John Leguizamo Saturday on the Independent Film Channel’s “Dinner for Five.” Surreal, for sure.
They teamed up for a tour last year, why not present their fave videos together too? That’s what former Van Halen frontmen Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth will be doing on “Artist Favorites” Friday on MTV2. Look for videos from Outkast and Limp Bizkit, among others.
