Nearly a decade after their start, K-pop girl group 9MUSES came to an end on Thursday (Feb. 14). To commemorate their career, the act, also known as Nine Muses, released the sweet farewell track “Remember.”
A sweet pop ballad-meets-R&B tune, “Remember” leaves 9MUSES’ career behind with the group singing about the the bond between them and their fandom, MINE. Throughout the poignant lyrics, they ask their fans to remember them as the group will remember their time together.
Originally oriented around nine members, over 14 women were part of 9MUSES by the end of its run. The final lineup features Gyeongree (also known as Kyungri), Hyemi, Sojin, and Keumjo, while the music video for “Remember” features video footage from throughout the act’s career. The clip begins with interviews of the final four 9MUSES expressing their love, thanks, and reflecting briefly on their career, and ends with them performing on stage and waving goodbye to fans as they say, “I love you” in Korean.
9MUSES previously released another single known as “Remember” in English, though the 2017 song was known by the Korean word for the term, “gieokhae,” whereas their final goodbye track is known solely as “Remember.”
“Remember” is their first single since 2017’s “Love City.”
Since their start in 2010, 9MUSES became known among fans for their vibrantly addicting, sleekly-produced electro-pop songs. Though they never saw top-tier success in the K-pop world, they had a dedicated following and will be remembered for their first-rate discography.
