Last year, 88Rising brought underrepresented cultures and artists to a big stage with it’s Head in the Clouds Music + Art Festival in Los Angeles. The creative agency and music label, founded by Sean Miyashiro in 2015, is dedicated to diversifying the American urban music scene, and in 2018, its roster of Asian and Asian-American talent was joined by Anderson. Paak and boasted about 10,000 attendees.
In 2019, Miyashiro and crew will double down with an even bigger takeover featuring a second stage of all dance and electronic talent, and Billboard Dance has the exclusive on the lineup.
Head in the Clouds returns to Los Angeles State Historic Park Saturday, Aug. 17, featuring performances from 88Rising artists Rich Brian, Joji, Higher Brothers, Niki, August 08 and Dumbfounded, plus K-pop stars iKON, Jackson Wang, Korean rapper DPR Live and more. The new dance stage will feature DJ sets and performances from K?D, Josh Pan, Manila Killa, Y2K, Deb Never, Park Hye Jin and Qrion.
“We’re excited to bring some of the most exciting electronic artists from Asia in a brand new stage at this year’s festival,” Miyashiro tells Billboard Dance. “Head In The Clouds is going to be an unforgettable experience, and we’re thrilled to host so many talented artists across genres.”
