With the palpable anticipation reaching a peak hours before 6ix9ine’s return to Instagram Live on Friday (May 8), Meek Mill had a few things he wanted to get off his chest when it came to the 24-year-old getting back in the rap game.
The frisky back-and-forth continued throughout the weekend, as 6ix9ine flexed about breaking Eminem‘s 24-hour YouTube record for views with “GOOBA,” which could debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 next week, while Meek didn’t back down in his mission to squash the “Gummo” rapper.

Shortly before Meek Mill’s Championships press run, 6ix9ine was arrested by the feds on an array of RICO charges. Meek recalls a time he saw 6ix9ine out, but it doesn’t seem like the two actually got to connect that night. Mill wanted to try to stage an intervention with Tekashi by telling him to slow down his act. “You can’t live with 10 security guards forever,” he says. Overall, Meek believes 6ix9ine is a “good kid” who got caught up in all of the antics.
Nov. 30, 2018 – Rick Ross snipes 6ix9ine on “What’s Free”
When Meek Mill assembled a three-headed monster on “What’s Free” alongside Rick Ross and Jay-Z, Rozay ends his verse poking 6ix9ine and taking issue with his snitching. “Screaming “gang gang,” now you wanna rat/ Racketeering charges caught him on a tap/ Lookin’ for a bond, lawyers wanna tax/ Purple hair got them f—-ts on your back,” he raps.
Jan. 30, 2019 – Meek Mill claims he saw 6ix9ine flip to becoming an informant coming
When news broke in early 2019 that 6ix9ine would be cooperating with authorities in the racketeering case against Nine Trey, Meek Mill says he saw the move coming all along. “That’s a shame, when I came home everybody was like he got some real dudes backing him. I was like, ‘How?’ Y’all better stop running behind rappers acting like y’all ready to throw y’all lives away over some stupid s–t,” he tweets. “I seen this coming a while ago.”
Feb. 13, 2019 – Meek Mill says he’s unfollowing DJ Akademiks after promoting a song he did with 6ix9ine
At this point, Meek Mill is fed up with anyone promoting anything 6ix9ine-related. After Akademiks attempts to promote he did with Tekashi, speaking for the culture, Meek says “we” are unfollowing Ak on social media.
Feb. 20, 2019 – Meek Mills blasts 6ix9ine for portraying a gang banger
Meek blasts 6ix9ine on Twitter for the raucous he caused. The “Burn” rapper flags Tekashi for starting “unnecessary drama” and then getting locked up because of it, which sets the wrong example for younger kids.
June 10, 2019 – Meek Mill refers to 6ix9ine as a “vicious kid”
During a Q&A with fans, Meek is asked his thoughts on the 6ix9ine situation. Mill answers by calling him a “vicious kid” since he started a ton of drama and then quickly flipped on those that he was running with in Nine Trey.
Dec. 16, 2019 – Meek Mill believes 6ix9ine was living a life “that wasn’t his life”
Meek Mill saw right through the tough guy, trolling persona that made 6ix9ine a millionaire. “It looked like he was living a life that wasn’t his life,” he tells Charlamagne Tha God. “It looked like he was going to get in some real bad trouble and he would have to turn into himself like he did in the courtroom.”
Jan. 21. 2020 – Meek Mill trolls 6ix9ine about jail photo with girlfriend
Tekashi’s girlfriend, Jade, posted a photo with 6ix9ine in jail at the top of 2020. Meek takes a page out of Tekashi’s playbook by trolling him in the comments. “That witness protection drip,” he jokes.
May 8, 2020 – Meek Mill calls 6ix9ine a “rat” and wants him to apologize to the families he hurt
On the heels of becoming a father for the second time just days prior, Meek Mill comes out firing on Friday morning (May 8) taking issue with how easy 6ix9ine has been able to weasel back into the hip-hop world following his case.
“I hope that rat going live to apologize to the people he told on or the victim. Y’all forgot that fast a ‘rat’ killed Nipsey [Hussle] he wasn’t suppose to be on the streets,” he writes. “Now you just an informant behind a keyboard tryna troll families you ruined so it’s not gone hit the same… and by the way, I’m doing this for my ‘sons’ so you won’t be around to impact their lives ever!”

No matter what kind of numbers 6ix9ine’s comeback single does, you won’t find Meek Mill bumping it at home during his quarantine. The Philly rapper calls the track “super trash” and prompts his fans to go support artists who also dropped on Friday (May 8) like NAV and Lil Durk instead.
May 8, 2020 – 6ix9ine subliminally addresses Meek Mill on his IG Live
Simply put, nearly 18 months behind bars didn’t change 6ix9ine much at all. He’s still valuing materialistic items like his expensive watches, jewelry, and favors numbers over quality when it comes to his music. “You lived your whole life trying to be a real n—a, and try to s–t on a kid like me,” he seemingly responds to Meek. “For a rat to come home and do more numbers than you, I would be mad too. May 10, 2020 – 6ix9ine breaks Eminem’s record for most views in 24 hours
There’s no denying that 6ix9ine is putting numbers on the boards. Tekashi broke Eminem’s previous YouTube record of 38.1 million views with “Killshot” when “GOOBA” compiled 43.5 million views in the rainbow-splattered video’s first full day out. 6ix9ine capitalizes on his accomplishment to throw a jab at Meek in the comments. “Somebody check on Meek, see if he’s okay,” he writes.
May 10, 2020 – Meek Mill says he’s gotta “crush” 6ix9ine “for the culture”
Meek Mill has made it his mission to “crush” 6ix9ine like he’s a virus trying to leach on and infect hip-hop’s mainstream. “I gotta crush you for the culture, you chump. How you sleep at night,” he says in a since-deleted tweet. “We control the culture, and I’ma set an example lol.” Meek brings up an example of another rapper-informant in Tommy Hill being killed upon coming home and also talks about how Nipsey’s alleged killer, Eric Holder, was a rumored snitch.
