50 Cent holds court on the Billboard singles scene this week as “Candy Shop” featuring Olivia not only extends its time at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for a third week, but climbs to the pole position on the Hot 100 Airplay, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay lists.
The track is the Hot 100’s greatest airplay gainer for the sixth week in a row and also notches a second week atop Billboard’s Hot Rap Tracks chart and a fifth on the Hot Digital Songs tally.
As reported yesterday (March 9), the rapper scored the sixth-largest opening week in Nielsen SoundScan history on The Billboard 200 with “The Massacre” (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) and broke his own record for the largest sales total by far of any title with a shortened release week. The set racked up U.S. sales of 1.14 million units in four days.
50 Cent has three singles in the Hot 100’s top five, as he’s featured on the Game’s “How We Do,” which holds at No. 4, while his own “Disco Inferno” remains in the No. 5 slot for a second week.
As 50 Cent dominates the hip-hop world, Green Day is still king of the rock charts. “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” tops Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks list for a 15th week and the Mainstream Rock Tracks tally for an 11th. The single is also No. 2 for a third week on the Hot 100, in its fifth week at No. 1 on the Pop 100 and third on top of the Pop 100 Airplay list.
Mario, who debuts “How Could You” at No. 93 this week, holds steady at No. 3 with his former No. 1, “Let Me Love You.” Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” inches 7-6.
Though it returns to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Radio Airplay list, Ciara’s “1, 2 Step” featuring Missy Elliott drops one to No. 7 on the Hot 100. Rounding out the top 10, Gwen Stefani’s “Rich Girl” featuring Eve is No. 8 for a second week, Usher’s “Caught Up” is No. 9 for a third and Frankie J’s “Obsession (No Es Amor)” featuring Baby Bash jumps 11-10.
Jack Johnson’s “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing” shoots 89-66 and is the chart’s fastest growing digital track. The singer enjoyed the biggest sales week of his career with his third Brushfire Records set, “In Between Dreams,” which moved 228,000 copies and debut at No. 3 on The Billboard 200.
Mike Jones’ “Still Tippin'” featuring Slim Thug and Paul Wall is the Hot 100’s top debut at No. 74. Also debuting this week are Jennifer Lopez’s “Hold You Down” featuring Fat Joe (No. 79), Cassidy’s “I’m a Hustla” (No. 85), Blaine Larsen’s “How Do You Get That Lonely” (No. 91) and the Mars Volta’s “The Widow” (No. 97).
Former “American Idol” contestant Josh Gracin takes over the lead on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart with “Nothin’ To Lose.” The song ends the five-week reign of Rascal Flatts’ “Bless the Broken Road,” which drops to No. 3.
